Thus the Churches and temples of this ancient god become
repositories for many kinds of knowledge. Some of this
knowledge is of an indiscreet nature, being the secrets of the
rich and powerful, the comings and goings of those who value their
privacy. There is, therefore, among the sedate librarians
and careful clerks, an order of Borlamnians who keep watch on such
activities, hoping to subtly influence the course of events.
These are the Eyes of Borlamnos, and few even among the
borlamnians have heard rumors of their existence.
Alignment: Any non-evil
Skills: Bluff (4 ranks), Diplomacy (4 ranks), Gather
Information (4 ranks), Perform (4 ranks), Sense Motive (2 ranks)
Feats: Alertness, Skill Focus (Gather Information)
Class Skills:
The Eye of Borlamnos skills (and the key ability for each
skill) are: Appraise (Int), Bluff (Cha), Concentration (Con),
Decipher Script (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disguise (Cha), Gather
Information (Cha), Innuendo (Wis), Knowledge (local)(Int),
Listen (Wis), Perform (Cha), Profession (Wis), Read Lips (Wis),
Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis).
Skill points at each level: 3+Int modifier.
Class Features:
All of the following are class features of the Eye of
Borlamnos prestige class:
Weapon and Armor: Eyes of Borlamnos are proficient
with all simple weapons and all light armor.
Spells per Day: An Eye of Borlamnos advances in spell
casting ability as well as learning the skills of an information
gatherer. Thus, when a new Eye of Borlamnos level is
gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also
gained a level in whatever spellcasting class he belonged to
before becoming an Eye of Borlamnos. He does not, however,
gain any other benefit a character of that class would have
gained.
Lore: Eyes of Borlamnos are able to draw upon a wide
array of knowledge and lore. This ability is the same as
the bardic knowledge skill.
Undetectable Alignment: The discipline learned of the
monks of Borlamnos makes it impossible to detect the alignment
of an Eye of Borlamnos via any form of divination once he has
reached 2nd level. This ability funcitons exactly like an undetectable
alignment spell, except that it is always active. Only
divinations are confounded; spells that function only against
certain alignments, such as protection from evil and holy
smite, affect the Eye of Borlamnos normally.
Insight I: At 3rd level, the Eye of Borlamnos gains a
+2 insight bonus to Gather Information checks.
Spot Scrying: At 4th level, the Eye of Borlamnos
notices the magical sensor created by arcane eye, scrying,
a crystal ball, or the like with a successful Spot check (DC
20).
Safe Passage: At 5th level, the Eye of Borlamnos gains
a +2 holy saving throw against runes, glyphs and symbols.
Slippery Mind: At 6th level, the Eye of Borlamnos
gains the slippery mind ability (see the Rogue section in Ch. 3
of the Player's Handbook) if he does not already have it.
Insight II: At 7th level, the Eye of Borlamnos gains
a +3 insight bonus to all Sense Motive checks.
Deep Cover: At 8th level, the Eye of Borlamnos can
quiet his mind and completely immerse himself in a cover
identity. While he is in deep cover, divination spells
detect only information appropriate to the cover identity; they
reveal nothing relating to his Eye of Borlamnos personality.
Mind Blank: At 10th level, the Eye of Borlamnos
becomes immune to mind-affecting spells or divinations by
rigorously silencing his mind. Using Mind Blank is
a standard action and the Eye of Borlamnos can do it a number of
times per day equal to 3+his intelligence modifier. This
ability works exactly like the Mind Blank spell cast by a
15th level sorcerer, except that it affects the Eye of Borlamnos
only and its duration is 10 minutes.
