| Players in
Theeurth campaigns may choose any of the core classes found in the
Player's Handbook. However, some of those classes are
altered for play in Theeurth.
The Cleric - Theeurth clerics differ
from standard clerics in three ways:
- Theeurth clerics cast spells
spontaneously (see the House Rules
page for details).
- Theeurth clerics do not have the Turn
Undead class ability.
- Each Theeurth priesthood has a separate
spell list. See the individual church (on the Religion
page) for the spell list. Note that in many cases, the domain spell lists have
also been altered.
The Paladin - Each good deity in Theeurth has an order
of Holy Warriors dedicated to him or her. Holy Warriors of
the Great Church are known as
paladins. Other Holy Warrior orders give their members other
names. Holy Warriors in Theeurth do not need to
prepare their spells. Each Holy Warrior sect is described
separately under the appropriate deity in the Religion
section.
The Sorcerer - Theeurth campaigns use the variant
Sorcerer class created by game designer Monte Cook in his
supplement "The Book of Eldritch Might II: Songs and Souls
of Power". Although this class is Open Game
Content, I choose not to post it online. If you're a
Theeurth player, ask me. Basically, they have better hit
dice and a narrower spell list than the Player's Handbook
version.
Players are warned that in Theeurth, Wizards
may gain spontaneous casting through feats, so the Sorcerer may
have somewhat less appeal.
Wizards - As seen on the House
Rules page, all wizards in Theeurth campaigns are specialists
and gain the Spontaneous Casting: Cantrip Mastery feat free
at 3rd level.
Racial Levels - Game Designer
Monte Cook introduced the concept of racial levels in his
outstanding variant player's handbook Monte Cook's Arcana
Unearthed. He subsequently posted to his web site racial
levels for the standard D&D races (written by Jesse Decker, Andy Collins, and Charles Ryan).
Theeurth games will allow those classes. You can find
them on Monte's site, or ask me. They may also be found
in Unearthed Arcana by Wizards of the Coast.
